Dear Santa,

I know these items might be a tall order, but 2008 was such a crap year for so many peeps around the world, I was just hoping that maybe you could pull out the stops in 2009 and GO BIG...which is why I'm gettin' my requests in early. Here goes:

Darfur: Can you please help us get up off our lazy butts and do something to help these folks, like really and permanently. What's happening there needs to end right NOW!

Obama: Please make sure our new President is safe and sound all year so you can deliver some great presents to the White House in 2009, especially now that all the naughty folks living there have been sent home, thank god! Make sure you send quadruple lumps of coal to Texas, you know the address!

GITMO: Please send some elves down, long before Xmas, and unlock the cages we've been illegally keeping those folks in. Many of whom I'm sure are your friends and on the 'NICE' list.

Tradewind Graphics: Keep a special eye on Abi, Rob & Greg this year, as the economy will be hard on them out there in '09. Remind Rob to slow down, work less & play more. Keep sending the cuties to Greg to make pix of, and help Abi get the recognition she so richly deserves.

My Family: I'd like another detail of elves sent to my brother's house, just to help Tiff with all the work she has to do, and maybe one to ride shotgun with Trev on his long daily commute too. It's hard to stay awake when a person logs the kind of hours he does. And maybe a puppy for the little munchkins? For Lisa & Jim, a nice long year of increasing prosperity and health would be nice. For Mom & Dad, maybe a trip to Australia & New Zealand, you could just loan them the Sleigh couldn't you? And if I could have anything, even over improving my crap health, I'd sure like to learn to be proficient at the basic chords on the guitar by Xmas '09.

Thanks buddy,
Travis T.

Unfortunately, since about 1995, I've done very little traditional media work, which means this whole gallery is badly outdated. Although my computer design skills have afforded me the opportunity to make a living doing creative work, I certainly miss the practice that had consumed my life's focus, prior to 1994. In fact, I've not done any painting since the late '90's. If you want to view some more recent work, look at my drawings page, but even that only has 3 pieces younger than 2001.

In terms of education, I've had very little. Apparently I was just born with an aptitude for both drawing & painting. The first thumbnail will be of my very first watercolor, having never touched the medium prior to this painting. I just sort of get different art tools, everything seems to come rather easily and naturally.

The thumbs will open up a new window to see the larger piece, just close the new window after viewing the piece, yeah? Now that I'm back on the mainland, I'm hoping to get back into a regular drawing and painting practice. One of my favorite things to do is to "GO BIG!" I love doing big murals, which I unfortunately have very few surviving photographs of. Enjoy!

Somewhere around 1999 I was commissioned to paint a child's bedroom in its entirety, every square inch of walls pace was to be covered. The client wanted an animal theme as the child was getting a bit older. They wanted the room to still have some appeal even as she moved toward her teenage years. The room was a play room. From start to finish, I worked at that house for a month, with nearly ten days just spent on prep. The client wanted the two longest walls covered with stretched artist's canvas so that if they ever moved, they could take part of the painting with them. So, the wall with the Unicorn on it and the section with the monkeys is actually painted on canvas with the bottom base board and another piece of molding at the ceiling acting as the frame to stretch the canvas...it was a lot of work getting it up there and stretched taut. The biggest downside of the job is that I failed to bring my camera on the final day of cleanup & the appointment I made for the following day to take pictures was met with a "no call/no show" by the homeowner. By the next time slot they made available to me, the child had already scribbled on certain portions of the walls and they had moved a some toys into the room as well, so the images I have are poor. I love painting big though...GO BIG or GO HOME!
